Wing Headquarters --
The
final results of the Middle East Region
Civil Air Patrol Winter Safety Connection
Program are in. All Wings participated,
with the overall program effectiveness much
better than previous safety blitz programs.
The program
reports show that West Virginia Wing and
Maryland Wing were essentially tied for the
first place position. To select the first
place winner, it was necessary to use the
optional criteria to make the choice between
the two wings.
West
Virginia Wing was selected based on the
imagination and creativity demonstrated in
the development of a web-based method to
provide a virtual version of the Connection
to Safety program so that all members could
participate, even those who might have
missed the program at their local
squadrons.
West
Virginia will receive a prize of $350.00 for
use in their safety programs. Maryland
will receive $150.00.
"I want to thank Captain Brian Shatzer,
Wing Safety Officer, for his outstanding
efforts in directing the effort and
compiling the results. Also, I want to
thank Lt Mark Shatzer for developing the
WV Wing Safety website. Both did an
outstanding job." said Wing Commander Col
Rodney Moore.
Moore said the Wing is performing very
well in the safety area so far this fiscal
year. "Let's continue to use operational
risk management (ORM) in all of our
operations. The winter season is upon us,
with cold temperatures and snowy
conditions, so let's continually assess
our operations with those environmental
factors in mind. Each unit should
consider an adverse weather conditions
policy for their scheduled meetings, if a
policy is not already in place." said
Moore.
