Colonel
Rodney A. Moore
assumed command of the West Virginia Wing on 22 October 2005.
Col Moore joined the West Virginia Wing of Civil Air Patrol as a
cadet in February 1968 and has been an active cadet and senior member
since that time. As a cadet,
he earned the Amelia Earhart Award and was cadet commander of the Taylor
County Cadet Squadron. He
attended several cadet encampments and special activities while a cadet,
including the International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) in 1973 in
Upon
reaching age 21, Lt Col Moore transferred to senior membership in the
Clarksburg Composite Squadron, WV038.
During his tenure at Clarksburg, he served in several staff
positions, including Communications Officer and Deputy Commander for
Cadets. While holding the
Deputy Commander of Cadets position, the Squadron received the Squadron of
Merit Award. He assumed
command of the Clarksburg Squadron in January 2000. The Squadron
received the West Virginia Wing Squadron of the Year Award in 2001 and
2004, the West Virginia Wing Air Support Award in 2000 and 2004, and the
Ground Support Award in 2000. During
his tenure as Commander, Clarksburg completed several building and
construction projects that enhanced the mission capabilities of the
Squadron. He was also
the Assistant Standardization/Evaluation Officer for the West Virginia
Wing.
